Ingredients:
Sona masoori rice - 6 cups(uncooked)
Tamarind - 100 grms
Water - 1 cup to soak tamarind
Green chillies - 12(slit)
Curry leaves - 5
Red chillies - 5
Mustard Seeds - 2 tsp
Turmeric - 1 tsp
sugar - 1 tsp
Ground nuts - 1/2 cup(roasted)
Bengal gram - 1/2 tsp
Black gram - 1/4 tsp
Cashews - 1/8th cup
Oil - 1 1/2 cups
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Directions:
Soak Bengal gram in water for 30 mins.
Mix the soaked dal with washed and drained rice.
Pressure cook it with 12 cups of water.
Rinse the tamarind and soak it in 1 cup of water for 30 min.
Extract the pulp f it and keep aside.
Heat oil in a pan.Add bengal gram,black gram and 1 tsp of mustard seeds.
Once they splutter add roasted ground nuts,cashews and saute for a while.
Add cumin seeds,green chillies,red chillies and curry leaves and saute for a while.
Add tamarind pulp and saute for another 2 mins.
Cover and cook for 8 mins on medium flame until the oil separates.
Add sugar salt,turmeric and turn off the stove.
Grind 1 tsp of mustard seeds and 1 red chilli and put aside.
Mix the pressure cook rice-dal mixture with the sauteed masala.
Add the ground mixture to the above and mix well.
