Munakkaya Pappu(Drumstick Dal)

Ingredients:

Drumstick(Munakkaya) - 1
toor daal - 1 1/2 cup
Green chillies - 3
Chili powder - 1/4 tsp
Tomatoes - 2
Onions - 1
Oil - 4 tsps
Turmeric powder - a pinch
Mustard seeds- 1 tsp
Split bengal gram dal(senaga pappu)- 1 tsp
Red dry chillies - 3
Black gram - 1 tsp
Sesame powder - 1 tsp
Curry leaves- 10
Cilantro chopped- for garnish
Directions:



  1. Clean and cut munakkaya,onion and tomatoes into small pices.

  2. Boil toor dal,sliced onions,tomatoes,green chillies,munakkaya in a pressure cooker.Cook for 3-4 whistles.

  3. Smash the boiled toor dal,add salt and chili powder to taste.

  4. Heat oil in a pan.add Mustard seeds,senaga pappu,Black gram,Red dry chillies,Sesame powder,Curry leaves and Turmeric powder into oil and fry them.

  5. Add this to the toor dal and boil it for few minutes on low flame.Garnish with cilantro.
